The Constituency Development Fund (CDF) was introduced in 2003 to combat poverty and promote equitable growth and development around the country. Statistics have consistently shown high poverty and inequality levels, for instance, in 1997 welfare monitoring survey showed a poverty rate of 57% overall and 60% in the rural population.
Mbeere north constituency is one of the electoral constituencies in Kenya. It is constituency number 066 according to independent electoral and boundaries commission (IEBC). The constituency has a population of 89,037 per the 2009 national census and covers an approximately 777.0 square kilometers. It has three county assembly wards namely Evurore, Nthawa and Muminji. The constituency main economic activity is subsistence farming.
The constituency has three divisions (3), sixteen (16) locations and thirty two (32) sub-divisions. Politically, mbeere north constituency comprises of three wards namely; Evurore, Muminji and Nthawa. Evurore covers the largest area of approximately 383, Muminji is the second with an approximate area of 224.70 km2 and Nthawa comes last with an approximately area of 136.50 km2.
